Learning  Outcomes

By the end of this module, students will be able to:

  • Interpersonal Communication:
    • Ask and answer basic questions about types of housing, rooms, and household items.
    • Describe their house/apartment and its contents to a partner or small group.
    • Discuss daily activities performed at home using appropriate vocabulary and verb tenses.
    • Asking/answering about location
    • Engage in simple conversations about hospitality and visiting someone’s home.
  • Interpretive Communication:
    • Identify key vocabulary related to housing and home life when listening to descriptions or short dialogues.
    • Understand spoken/written descriptions
    • Read and comprehend short descriptions of houses or rooms.
    • Understand simple cultural explanations about housing in East Africa.
  • Presentational Communication:
    • Present a simple description of their ideal home or their actual living space.
    • Describe things in relation to others in a room, locations
    • Create a short visual aid (e.g., drawing, simple floor plan) labeled to accompany a presentation about their home.
    • Write a short paragraph describing a room in their house or a typical East African home.

·      Cultures:

  •  Identify at least two common types of housing in East Africa (e.g., stone house, mud house, apartment).
  • Recognize some cultural aspects of hospitality and shared living spaces in Swahili-speaking communities.
