Zoezi la 1: Kusikiliza na kuandika

Your teacher will read a series of phone numbers, write them down, and then check with a partner to see if you got them right.

Zoezi la 2: Kuzungumza

In groups of two, ask each other for your phone numbers. Walk around the class and talk to two or three students.

Zoezi la 3: Chain drill

In this activity, we will ask each other for phone numbers, i.e., Student A asks Student B, Student B asks Student C, then turns to the next person and asks them for their number.

Swali: Nambari yako ya simu ni nini?

Jibu: Nambari yangu ya simu ni……

Zoezi la 4: Scenario

You have been asked to complete a class project in groups. You approach two classmates with whom you would like to form a group. Greet them politely and exchange phone numbers.

Zoezi la 5: Scenario

Malaika is a new student and has asked you to show her around campus. Exchange phone numbers so you can coordinate a time to meet up later.

Cultural Note

In many cultures around the world, it is polite to know someone a bit before requesting/asking for their phone number. The phrase “Ninaomba nambari yako ya simu? Or Tafadhali nipe mabari yako ya simu” (May I please have your phone number?) is a more polite/formal alternative.
