LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this module, the learner will be able to;

 Interpersonal

  • greet and respond to greetings appropriately.
  •  introduce themselves (name, origin/where they live, where they study, what they study, languages they speak).
  • ask others for their (name, origin/where they live, where they study, what they study, languages they speak).
  • introduce a third person to someone else.
  • exchange basic pleasantries.

Interpretive 

  • understands basic spoken and written introductions.
  • identify key information (names, origins) in simple dialogues.

Presentational 

  • prepare and deliver a short oral introduction of themselves.
  • write simple sentences introducing themselves and others.
  • announce their arrival and departure when they visit an East African home.

Cultural Understanding:

  • recognize and demonstrate appropriate greetings and forms of address.
  • identify basic cultural nuances related to introductions (e.g., showing respect).
  • welcome a visitor in a culturally appropriate way

 To achieve these outcomes, you will learn the following grammar structures:

  1. Possessive pronouns
  2. Subject prefixes
  3. Present tense and its negation
  4. Question words such as who? Where? When? What?
