By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Interpretive Communication:
    • Recognize and understand common vocabulary for at least 15-20 food items (fruits, vegetables, grains, drinks).
    • Understand simple spoken instructions related to preparing a basic recipe
    • Identify key ingredients in a short, simple recipe or food description.
  • Interpersonal Communication:
    • Greet and ask/answer simple questions about food preferences.
    • Engage in a short, simple dialogue about ordering food or planning a simple meal with scaffolding.
    • Express basic likes and dislikes regarding food using simple phrases
  • Presentational Communication:
    • Name common food items
    • Present a simple, culturally relevant Swahili recipe or a list of favorite foods to the class (using visuals and simple Swahili phrases).
    • Label food items.
  • Cultural Understanding:
    • Identify at least 2-3 common dishes or food traditions from Swahili-speaking cultures.
    • Demonstrate awareness of basic polite eating etiquette in a Swahili cultural context
