Students in Class Piano II (MUS 1132) will learn the following:

- 4–6 pieces, not memorized, late elementary level
Musical Vocabulary
- Scales
- Tetrachord harmonic minor scales in all keys
- Two-octave scales, hands separately in CDEFGAB major and harmonic minor
- Arpeggios
- Two-octave arpeggios, hands separately in CDEFGAB major and harmonic minor
- Chords
- Triads and inversions, blocked and broken, hands separately in CDEFGAB minor
- Chromatic chord crawl: minor triads in root position, hands together
- Diatonic chord crawls: ABCDEFG minor, hands together
Harmonization
- Prepared examples in major and minor keys using primary chords (I, IV, and V) in closest position
Transposition
- Prepared melodies in major and minor keys
Reading
- Prepared score-reading examples involving two non-transposing lines
- At-sight melodies, simple two-hand textures
