Education is an integral part of development. In the United States, and in many other developed nations, children and adolescents spend more waking time at school than anywhere else, creating a strong context for shaping us into the people we are. In other areas of the world, education is denied to many. Malala Yousafzai, for instance is a Pakastani education advocate who was targeted in a 2012 attack by the Taliban for her advocacy efforts. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 for her work in advocating for education for females. Education is freedom for many people, and in this section we will explore the role of education both in our early years and in our later years in shaping our lives.
